Black and yellow, perfectly matched – what springs to mind? You're on the right track if you're thinking of the Air Jordan 1 Taxi sneaker, in its Low or Mid version, but right now we've got a much brighter shade of yellow in mind. And since we're not ones to keep you guessing (plus you've probably read the title of this post already), we'll spill it: it's the Air Jordan 4 “Thunder”! ⚡👟
the predecessors
We have to jump back more than 10 years, all the way to 2012 (when our ages were still in single digits 😂👶). That's when the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Thunder” last dropped: the black-and-yellow Jordan that makes hearts skip a beat for anyone who loves TPE mesh and a nubuck upper. 😍
In fact, truth be told, we need to go back even further, because this design, in these colours, first debuted back in 2006! 😱
So the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Thunder” dropping again this year has some history behind it, which means it's time for a quick history lesson! 👴🏻
the story
In 2006, plenty of people were caught off guard by two new limited-edition colourways of the Air Jordan 4. The “Thunder Pack” and the “Lightning Pack” were basically the inverse of each other. The “Lightning” had a yellow upper, yellow laces and a yellow tongue – while the “Thunder” was mostly black, with touches like a yellow heel. ⚫️🟡
Both versions were sold exclusively online, on jumpman23.com, which made them exclusive from day one.

Many people reckon the “Thunder” was one of the Air Jordan 4's best non-OG colourways. It's probably no coincidence that over time this version became the more iconic and popular of the two. Six years later, only the “Thunder” got a re-release.
the “Thunder”
So what makes the Air Jordan 4 “Thunder” look so ridiculously good?
Is the devil in the detail? 👿
You could hunt for the secret in the colour of the tongue mesh and the eyelets, the midsole or the Jumpman logo – but what really matters is the overall look. One glance at this sneaker and you just feel it: everything's exactly where it should be.
Well, almost everything: the pair itself isn't where it should be yet, because it belongs on your feet! 👉🏼👟
And speaking of “Thunder”: they say lightning never strikes the same place twice. Well, to be honest, as far as we're concerned, this bolt can strike as many times as it likes. ⚡
Which is exactly why we were grinning from ear to ear when early 2022 brought a new twist to the story: the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Red Thunder” dropped. Everything that was yellow on the original “Thunder” went red on this one. 🤯

And that fire-engine red really set our hearts ablaze! ❤️🔥
It was love at first sight! 😍
If you feel the same and you love the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Red Thunder” (if you haven't got a pair yet, order one right now by clicking here!), then the original “Thunder” has to be in your rotation too!
the wait
So, long story short: this spring, Jordan is re-releasing the Air Jordan 4 Retro "Thunder" – the black-and-yellow beauty last seen in 2012. 🤩
So May and summer 2023 will be all about one thing: the subtly reworked yet stunning Air Jordan 4 Retro “Thunder”, which channels the original to the max! Soon you'll be able to order yours and hold it in your hands! 🚛
